Kael snorted. "Tenebrous has that effect on people. It's a city built on secrets and lies. You get used to it."

"You're on edge, Elian," Kael said, his voice low and even. "What's bothering you?"

The city of Tenebrous sprawled before us, its dark stone buildings seeming to absorb the faint light of the setting sun. "Advisor Lirien," Kael said, a hint of wariness in his voice. "We weren't expecting to see you here."

And I was willing to do whatever it took to bring down the Council. Kael snorted

And then, a figure emerged from the shadows. You get used to it

We turned a corner, and the imposing figure of the Blackspire loomed before us. The fortress was the seat of power for the ruling Council, and its dark stone walls seemed to radiate an aura of malevolence.
